Abstract
Our project, MinervAI, won the Grand Overall Prize at HackUMass XI in October 2023. Competing against over 600 participants from across the USA, our team designed a tool to enhance teaching through AI-powered classroom simulations. MinervAI allows educators to interact with AI agents simulating diverse student backgrounds and proficiencies, identifying gaps in lecture materials and improving teaching strategies. Using OpenAI API, FastAPI, and Microsoft Semantic Kernel, MinervAI generates detailed Q&A summaries and analytics from AI-driven classroom interactions. This project exemplifies the transformative role of AI in education and highlights the innovation within the Amherst College community. Our success was celebrated on Diwali 2023, making this achievement even more meaningful. We are grateful to HackUMass organizers and sponsors, including Wolfram-Alpha and Bose Corporation, for supporting this incredible experience.
